Welcome to LJM Pottery

Leslie J. Moodie was born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY and grew up swimming in the Niagara River and running free in the wildlife that was upstate New York in the 1960's. Born youngest of 11 children, Leslie had the chance to move wherever his siblings had scattered over the years and took his chance to move to California in the 70's. There, his artistic side opened as he saw the different cultures and ways of life that drew people to the ocean front. From that move on, he has been participating in the arts and philosophy. After working in many different mediums, Leslie finally concentrated his efforts on pottery and found that he loved the wheel, Raku, and the different whimsical things he can do with glazes and design.
Many pieces made by LJM are influenced by Asian arts and techniques. He enjoys a simple kind of whimsy that is one thing that no one can re-create.

"I am experimenting with Raku and glases and every day I learn something new about the way each glase reacts with the other. I love to experiment and see what way I can be surprised each time I open that kiln."- LJM
LJM says that he will always experiment and looks forward to the building of his new studio this month. Those who are waiting for more art can reach to the artist by commenting right here on this blog or by contacting LJM at :
